Weekend Hiking

Sometimes you want a challenging adventure and sometimes you just want to get some fresh air and talk with some interesting people. The group hikes, offered by Events and Adventures, are a nice relaxed way to enjoy a few hours on your weekend with fun Vancouver singles. There's no pressure, minimal exertion and plenty of nature to free your soul.

The club meets at the trailhead and then starts the walk as a group. The pace is easy going, with lots of opportunities to stop for photos or to goof around.

E&A has lots of intense activities, that push your physical fitness, but the hikes are a nice break, especially after a late Friday or Saturday night. Nothing helps with a hangover like a good dose of clean forest air.

The nature also helps you decompress after a hectic workweek. I love walking through the trees and realigning my focus on the things that truly matter, like enjoying life's simple pleasures.

This week, the club is headed to Lighthouse Park for a tour of the West Vancouver trails. If you haven't been to Lighthouse park, you should definitely check it out. The trails remind me of the flora and fauna of the Gulf Islands, with lots of Arbutus trees, fern valleys and rocky shorelines. The park also hosts a gorgeous view of the city, a cluster of first-growth Douglas firs and one of the last manned lighthouses of the Pacific Northwest.

Previous hikes on the E&A calendar include Watershed Park, Burnaby Lake and Rice Lake, in North Vancouver.

Hope to see you all on the trail this Saturday. Our hike begins at 12:30, so plenty of time to sleep in and enjoy a relaxing Saturday morning.
